Nail Salon Etiquette

woman who just went to a nail salonYou should mind your manners no matter where you go or what you do. When it comes to the nail salon, there are a few written and unwritten rules that can and should be followed. After all, just because you are paying for a service, does not mean that you get to treat anyone badly. When you follow the correct etiquette in the nail salon, you are not only being a good customer, you are also helping to make the visit a better and more pleasant one for you and everyone else in the place. Furthermore, it is not just about good manners, but it is also your attitude toward the whole experience, the salon, and its staff. Selah Salon & Spa’s nail salon can give you a great manicure, so you don’t have to worry.

Nail Salon Appointments

As the saying goes, “Time is money.” Therefore, if you cannot keep an appointment, call and cancel it, no matter how close to arrival time it is.  While some nail salons will charge you for a missed appointment, most just want to be able to fill the spot with a last minute schedule or a walk-in. By calling, you allow them to do so. On the opposite side of that, if you suddenly have the time to go, try to call and not just walk in as this will decrease your wait time if there is a cancellation. Also, please arrive a few minutes early to allow time to check in.

Cell phones at the nail salon

Everyone is so connected. While using your cell phone at a nail salon is fine, it’s a place to relax and unwind. So if you decide to put your phone on silent for a while, you probably will enjoy your experience more. Also be courteous when using it.

Tipping at the Nail Salon

You are getting a personal service and should, therefore, tip the person who did the work. The average tip is 25% of the total bill. Many people rely on this money to live as they do not make enough otherwise. That being said, if you are having a problem, speak up. Do not wait until the end to complain as nothing can be done at that point. If you do not like something or want something changed, let the technician know so that he or she can fix the problem. If you are still not satisfied, find the manager or owner.
